They are still chasin in southern Wisconsin. Saw 2 bucks right before dark today. I heard it is going to be windy Saturday.
I saw a buck last night chasing a doe (it was a half rack buck), my wife saw the same deer 2 miles away this morning. My nephew had it on his camera Monday during the day roughly 300 acres away. They are moving.
Yes, expect to see new bucks in your area. They have left their home range and now going into new areas.
I saw a buck breed a doe yesterday. What we will most likely see in the days to come will be the bucks leaving their does and looking for new ones after they have been breed for a couple days.
Good luck everyone and be safe in the woods.
Sit all day. Let the other hunters on the neighbors property kick up the deer for you.
Jeff, I agree. If you have to head back to camp, take your time. Hunt on your way in. Walk 50-100 yards and then glass and wait for a few minutes. You'd be surprised how effective this can be when deer are holding tight.
The deer are definitely moving. Good luck and be safe to all. Looking forward to hearing the stories.
What are a Wi gun hunters seeing? Any chasing? How's the weather?
Sat this morning much warmer than the weekend saw 8 does. Not much action on our cameras. Hope things pick in the next couple days. I guess this is why they call it hunting.
Should get better as the week progresses since the weekend warriors are gone. Starting to see the fawns get back with the does, rut is pretty much over up north.
You still may see some of the younger bucks still try to breed.
As the season progresses, some yearling bucks will fall to "tag panic", a left over tag can equal to better hunting next year.
Looking forward to black powder.
